56. Install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Via Windows Auto Update
There are two ways of installing the Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
This tutorial will deal with installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
using Windows Auto Update.
Unlike most other updates that are available through Windows
Update you will find that the Windows Service Pack 1
update is
classed as an Optional update. This means that the choice
is yours as to whether you install the service pack or not. However,
although Windows 7 Service Pack 1 doesn't add anything new in the
way of functionality to your system, it does add additional updates
that are important to your system. Therefore, we recommend that you
install Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
Like most service packs, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is rather large
in size. How much of the service pack that needs to be installed on
your system will depend upon how up to date your Windows Operating
system is. For example, if you have religiously updated your copy of
Windows via Windows Auto Update, you may find that the install will
only be around 100MB or so. However, if you haven't updated your
Windows operating system for quite a while it may be necessary to
install as much as 900MB of the service pack. Download and
Installation time combined can be anything up to an hour or more, so
please allow plenty of time to download and install the service
pack.
