Lifesize Interoperability with Microsoft OCS Comes Five Months Earlier than Expected
Earlier this year
video Conferencing
experts Lifesize announced that they had successfully received a
qualification that allowed one of their products (Lifesize team
220) to interoperate with Microsoft Office Communication
Server 2007 R2. The successful video conferencing company
announced at the Microsoft Partner Conference (held during July
2011) that they had been working hard alongside Microsoft and
had now received qualification for all of their endpoints to
interoperate with Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007 R2.
This means that those using a compatible version of Microsoft
OCS will be able to benefit from HD video conferencing by using
any Lifesize endpoint including
the Lifesize Team 220, Express 220, Room 220 as well as the
compact and affordable Lifesize passport. Lifesize endpoints are
qualified to work with a number of models within the Microsoft
Office Communication Server range including:
- Microsoft OCS
2007 R1 (v3.0.6362.0 and higher)
- Microsoft OCS 2007 R2 (v3.5.6907.0 and higher)
Lifesize have reported that they had set a personal deadline
for the end of the calendar year but were pleased that they were
able to achieve full qualification five months before their own personal deadline. The chief executive officer of
Lifesize mentioned that after receiving qualification to
interoperate the Lifesize Team 220 in to Microsoft OCS he was
keen to further build relationships with Microsoft by working
with them to introduce interoperability with other products
within the Lifesize range: “Once we achieved qualification with
our Team 220 system, it was the next logical step to expand that
offering to our entire line of products,†Benefits to Microsoft
OCS users So what are the benefits of interoperating Lifesize
endpoints with Microsoft OCS 2007? Well, the benefits are vast
but broadly speaking Microsoft OCS users will benefit from a
simple, convenient and secure means to communicate via a high
quality HD conferencing system. The security of the system will
be improved with the use of TLS and SRTP which will allow for a
secure and reliable communication to be established. In addition
to this, the system will make use of Microsoft’s Edge service
which will provide a Firewall/NAT traversal service. Perhaps the
main advantage of using Lifesize products in conjunction with
Microsoft OCS 2007 is that it will provide a single user
interface (UI) in which to communicate in a number of ways such
as via email, video conference or via a voice chat over the
phone.
